Here are projects I worked on during my free time.

Building Ender 3

After a long time of contemplating which 3D printer to buy, I decided to purchase Ender-3 because of the simple build and easy upgrade for a printer under 200 US dollars. To test out Ender 3, i needed something quick and small. The testing print came from the printer was a very long 6 hours print, so I created a few small key chains to test different layer height and infill percentage.

House Renovation (d. 2016)

As an engineer and fan of every renovation show possible, I could not pass the idea of designing my own house. Here is the project I took on renovating the house purchased at 2016 in the East Bay area. The master bathroom in the house was incompliant with building code. One of the design challenge was to find a small toilet and sink that would fit nicely in the small space and pass building code clearance requirement. In the end, in-wall units was selected. As for the kitchen, the original idea was to open up the space for an open concept, however, the wall behind the stove is actually a load-bearing wall, and with a tight budget and time constrain, the wall was kept in place. The refrigerator was moved to where the China cabinet was. This decision allowed a microwave shelf to be installed and greatly increased the total counter space. I drafted the construction plans, went to the City for building permit, sourced all the materials from appliances to tie finishes. I was at the job site pretty much everyday to oversee the construction from demo to the end.
